Chale Island and Gazi Bay
Chale Island lies a little over half a kilomtere off Kenya's coast, just south of Galu Beach.
This small idyllic island only has one hotel, and therefore has a touch of exclusivity about it. A beautiful bay with a stunning sandy beach opens out into clear coral waters - perfect for snorkelling. A marine park around the island offers protection to the coral and other marine life that abound here.
Lush coastal vegetation, and trees can be found in the centre of the island, providing a good habitiat for a variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles. There are also some dramatic ancient coral rock formations. Natural sulphur mud-springs are an unusual feature that attract visitors due to their supposed health giving properties.
