'North Coast' refers to the stretch of coastline from beyond the northern beaches of Mombasa all the way up to the border with Somalia.
Heading north from the outlying Mombasa suburbs of Bamburi and Shanzu, the major towns are Mtwapa, Vipingo, Takaungu, Kilifi, Matsangoni, Gedi,Watamu, & Malindi. Beyond Malindi is the Sabaki River mouth, Mambrui and Ngomeni Finger, after which the coastline curves out into the massive Ungwana (Formosa) Bay - which stretches north leading to the impressive Tana River Delta.
Beyond the delta is the famous and historic Lamu Archipelago. Stretching north-east towards the border is the Kiunga Marine National Park on the seaward side, with the Dodori and Boni National Reserves to the west.
