Tribe Watersports

Watersports Centre, Watamu

Tribe Watersports is based next door to Coast and Country on Watamu Beach Road, Watamu Kenya and specialises in kitesurfing and stand up paddle boarding. However being a “watersports” centre also provides tuition/rental in windsurfing, kayaking and body boarding. Other activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling and deep sea fishing are also available. We offer tuition for beginners to advanced riders and stock a full range of equipment to suit all ages and sizes.

We are East Africa's only BKSA (British Kitesurfing Association) approved school and one of only three worldwide who hold this approval outside of the UK. This means we are examined on our safety and quality of service on a yearly basis so you can be sure you are receiving the highest possible service.

The team of staff have all been trained to the level of excellence that is required to work as a Tribe Watersports instructor. All staff hold internationally recognised qualifications from governing bodies such as the BKSA, IKO, RYA, BWSF and AWA. Our head of training has been teaching watersports for 12 years all over the world in places such as Australia, Mexico, Fiji and Spain. Having grown up in Watamu he is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and is able to give the best possible advice and tuition.

Tribe Watersports uses the latest equipment to ensure that lessons are as safe and productive as possible. All kitesurfing equipment is provided by Slingshot and Mystic and all stand up paddleboard, kayak, windsurfing and body boarding equipment by BIC sports.

We offer tuition and well as a rental service which includes insurance. Our fully equipped watersports centre includes a classroom, storage facilities, shower room and shop. Tribe Watersports also uses a ZapCat rescue craft during all lessons so you can be sure you are completely safe whilst out on the water.

Tribe Watersports is also responsible for creating the Watamu Kitesurf Club which promotes and assists safe kiting in the area. Members of this club receive a variety of benefits of which full details can be found on our website.
