Shimba Hills

The Shimba Hills are located only about 15 kilomteres inland from Kenya's coastline, and are within easy reach from Mombasa (about 60 kilometres) and kenya's South Coast. Much of the Shimba Hills falls within the Shimba Hills Forest Reserve - which also has an elephant corridor linking the Mwaluganje Forest Reserve.

The main vegetation type in the hills is coastal rain forest, interspersed with grassy plains. A wide variety of fauna can be seen here - most well know for elephant, buffalo and a variety of antelope including the impressive Sable Antelope.
