New Look of Refurbished KICC Done by KDF [PHOTOS]

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) has undergone a transformation for the last few weeks following renovations done by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Renovations that began in early August have involved the refurbishment of various conference rooms, hallways, pavements, and flower gardens. Some of the conference halls were also flipped to create a large space for the upcoming African Climate Summit.

KICC is being renovated in readiness for the summit that is set to commence from September 4 – 6.

Over 24 African presidents and 30,000 international delegates are expected to attend the conference initiated by President William Ruto.

As part of the renovations, some of the sections that have been completed include the refurbishment of the main gate which now has a new signboard and gate frame.

Other works have also been done on the water fountains with old tiles replaced in addition to the cleaning of the pavements and old water fountains.

Currently, the KDF officers are undertaking the final touches on other parts of the building whose construction commenced in 1967.

Given the strict timelines for the completion of the projects, senior government officials including Ruto have personally inspected the progress of the Conference Center.

Senior officials from the military have also camped at the 28-storey building to monitor the renovations.

“On behalf of President William Ruto, this evening, I visited KICC, the venue of the event,  to assess the progress of preparations for this momentous occasion.

“Our President is ready to host the tens of Heads of State and Government and hundreds of delegates as we chart an Africa-centred approach to a sustainable environment that incorporates Agenda 2030 of the United Nations and Agenda 2063 of the African Union,” Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stated during his inspection on August 31.
