Distant Relatives: Ksh1,200 a Night Kenyan Lodge With Communal Showers Captures Tourists Attention

Distant Relatives, a Kenyan lodge, is attracting the attention of the global tourists market over its unique offering.

The Travel, a media outlet covering travel and destination, praised the lodge, whose per night charges begin at Ksh1,200, for its ecological nature and unique rustic-style accommodation.

Most of the units in the lodge feature thatched roofs and communal outdoor showers with bamboo plants and cold water.

“It is one of the most natural-feeling showers out there. The experience of showering while staring up at the massive bamboo gently swaying and creaking in the breeze is unforgettable,” described the outlet.

Part of the amenities that make the lodge outstanding for ecologically savvy tourists include composting toilets, recycled materials and a structure built around a tree to conserve it.

The lodge, located in Kilifi County, also offers top range amenities such as a swimming pool and an inhouse bar and restaurant.

Rooms at the lodge range between Ksh1,200 per night and Ksh4,500 for an adult.

The Ksh1,200 fee covers tented campsite that accords visitors a chance to sleep under the stars in a green leafy garden.

The lodge also boasts of 8-bed dormitories, each consisting of four sets of spacious bunk beds charging Ksh1,800.

The most expensive, valued at Ksh4,500, consists of private rooms one spacious double bed and an en suite shower.
