Gospel Artist Rufftone Appointed UDA Nairobi Regional Manager

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Thursday announced the appointment of Gospel singer Rufftone Smith Mwatia as the regional manager for the Nairobi region.

In a notice, the ruling coalition announced that Rufftone will be entrusted with the responsibility overseeing grassroots elections as the party prepares to elect new officials in December this year.

Rufftone was appointed alongside other individuals who are set to become regional managers including; Alex Khamisi (Western) Khalif Abdi (Coast), Paul Kiprop (North Rift), and Peter Mbogo (Central Kenya) among others.

In a statement, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala emphasised that these appointments were made to guarantee smooth, transparent grassroots elections.

The latest appointments stem from the resolutions passed by the National Governing Council (NGC) concerning party structure expansion and the election process.

Instructively, UDA has resolved to hold electronic elections.

To prepare the appointed officials for their roles, Malala conducted a meeting with them at the party headquarters before their deployment to the respective counties.

“Top on their in-tray is the smooth and seamless execution of the UDA Party’s forthcoming grassroots elections scheduled for December 9, 2023,”  the party stated.

Rufftone, a staunch ally of Ruto, initially intended to run for the Nairobi Senatorial seat but set aside his ambitions in support of Margaret Wanjiru.

He actively contributed to Ruto’s presidential campaign in Nairobi and nearby satellite towns, playing a pivotal role as an emcee at various campaign events in the city.
