Inooro TV’s Ken Wakuraya Launches Own Media House

Popular Kikuyu news anchor and presenter Ken Wakuraya, known for hosting prime time news on Inooro TV is now a media owner.

The celebrated TV host launched his brand new news website, Kenlive.co.ke, at an event he held at Sportview in Kasarani on Saturday, October 7.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Wakuraya explained that the outlet will concentrate on news coverage in all sectors cutting across politics, business and entertainment among others.

He also indicated that he has begun hiring a team to fill a sizeable newsroom although he declined to reveal the exact number of journalists he is seeking to onboard.

“It is a news website. The goal is to cover all news ranging from politics. It is going to be different from any other website out there. Right now, we are recruiting,” he stated.

The website is modestly designed displaying a dominant Trending section and a maroon background with a logo mirroring his TV brand.

The outlet is also linked to his personal YouTube page which chronicles his career and has so far attracted 28,000 subscribers.

When questioned about his absence from TV screens for what his fans estimate to be three months, Wakuraya refused to clarify whether he had parted ways with his employer — Inooro TV, Royal Media Services.

Earlier, blogs had hinted that the media personality had left Royal Media Services precipitated by differences with his superior.

“The only person who can give credible information is me and I am not willing to disclose anything as per now,” he added.

Wakuraya’s media journey began through acting immediately after completing his high school studies. He, however, quit the job due to low pay and turned to selling Mitumba clothes.

After stints working in a pharmacy, he returned to acting with a role on Tahidi High before securing a position at Inooro TV after its launch.
