The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Eric Theuri on Monday announced that the institution has exposed another fake lawyer who is not licensed to operate.
According to Theuri, Sharon Adunya Atieno has been posing as a lawyer without the prerequisite qualifications as required by law.
In a statement, Theuri revealed that the culprit had forged a national identity under an alias and a fake practicing certificate to aid her illegal enterprise.
“She is currently held at Capitol Police Station pending investigations and arraignment in Court,” Theuri stated.

According to Theuri, the suspect was using the alias Sharon Atieno Adunya Obade to represent unsuspecting Kenyans.
The suspect was arrested after investigations were launched involving the society and the Nairobi Branch Rapid Response Team.
Theuri lauded the public for assisting in weeding out the cropping lot of fake lawyers in the country.
“We will not relent in this fight. The operation to rid masquerades will be intensive, thorough, and unrelenting,” he added.
Her arrest came days after Brian Mwenda was exposed for operating in the country without having a license. He was accused of using another advocate’s credentials illegally.
Mwenda who is a university student allegedly won 26 cases while disguising himself as a lawyer.
The incident elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans and renowned politicians. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and the Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) Secretary General Francis Atwoli defended the suspect.
Sonko has announced his support to Mwenda offering to accompany him to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement.
A career in law is among the few professions preferred by a section of Kenyans due to the assumed prestige.
In September Members of Parliament approved the lowering of the grade required for a law degree. This was after Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino tabled the Legal Education (Amendment) Bill 2023.
