Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has apologised for the delay in accessing the just released KCPE results following uproar from parents.
In a statement, the Council noted that the technical team was working on solving the issue and would update the members of the public once the shortcode is accessible.
Candidates were advised to access their results by sending their index number to 40054.
“Greetings, we apologize for the delay in accessing KCPE 2023 results. We will update you once they are available on 40054,” the statement read in part.
Kenyans online lamented that they could not access the KCPE results an hour after Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the exams.
According to parents, this created anxiety among the parents, teachers and students who had to patiently wait for the results.
Some lamented that they had to send the message multiple times, incurring a Ksh25 fee per SMS.
They urged the Ministry to be considerate when releasing national examinations in the future.
“It has created anxiety for everyone including teachers, the parents. I would just request that the next time the results are released, they release what is ready. You see if you keep sending then you’re charged Ksh25 every time. Next time, they should be considerable.”
