Mutilated Body of Police Found After Leaving Leaving Station for Shop


A police officer attached to the Athi River Police Station was found dead near a railway line in Machakos County on Friday after leaving his desk to go to the nearby shop.

In an Occurrence Book (OB) report accessed by Kenyans.co.ke, the 58-year-old officer was last seen leaving his station at around 9 pm on Thursday.

Police documented that his lifeless body was discovered the following morning by a local chief. The chief later reported the matter to the officer’s collegues.

According to the police report, the body of the officer had deep cuts to the head and the left ear.

Preliminary investigations indicate that sharp objects may have been used during the attack.

“Signs of struggle were evident at the scene. He was last seen leaving the assignment area at 2100 hours at night heading to the shop.

“The scene was processed and the body was moved to Shalom Funeral Morgue pending autopsy,” read the police report in part.

Police added that they would continue with their investigations to ascertain how the officer who was heading to the shop ended up near the railway line.

However, it was not indicated whether the officer had received death threats before the incident.

Forensic analysis of his mobile phone is expected to unravel more details about his last moments before the attack.

Police, nonetheless, noted that a detailed report would be made public after the matter had been investigated with the help of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

At the time of the publication, no arrest had been made. The murder weapons had also not been found.
