Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata on Monday launched a manhunt for a thief captured on CCTV footage stealing a laptop.
In his plea to the public, the county boss revealed that the electronic was stolen at Murang’a County Level 5 hospital on Sunday at 8:35 pm.
The two clips which lasted less than one minute each, showed the lady, dressed in a red top and skinny black jeans, getting into an office after which she emerged with a laptop.
The second footage showed her walking briskly towards the exit.
Below is the video:
“Murang’a County Level 5 hospital (Murang’a Town ) laptop was stolen yesterday 8.35 pm,” read the appeal the Governor shared on his personal Twitter handle.
“Help us identify this suspect by calling or texting our helpline number; 0757 562988.”
Kang’ata, however, did not clarify whether sensitive information was at stake following the theft.
The hospital has suffered loss of its equipment to petty crime offenders including in October last year when CCTV footage captured a thief stealing a bench.
At the time, Kang’ata called on the public to help him identify the offender, a request that did not sit well with a majority of his followers.
The thief was captured on CCTV dragging the seat across the hospital before carrying it on his shoulders and leaving the premises.
“Help us find this thief who stole a bench at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital. Report to the nearest police station,” he wrote.
It is not clear whether the thief was apprehended but respondents advised the county government to upgrade security systems at the hospital. Some complained about the CCTV footage’s lack of clarity.
