Sonko Gives Conjestina Achieng’ Last Chance After Fallout

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again come to the rescue of former boxing champion Conjestina Achieng’ but warned the gesture is the third and final chance.

Through his official X channel, the politician affirmed that he will not relent in his resolve to help the boxer, despite what he described as attempts by a section of people to water down his efforts.

“Even though our chances in Conjestina’s healing journey were watered down, I’m a person who doesn’t give up in life,” Sonko noted.

“It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case.”

According to the ex-governor, Conjestina has been admitted to the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Centre where she will begin fresh treatments under the care of a group of specialists, including counsellors, consultants, and physiatrists.

“My special thanks go to the  Mombasa Women’s Hospital management led by the chief administrator, Hon. Amina Abdalla for accepting us back to the facility,” the former Governor remarked.

Sonko’s sentiments come against the backdrop of his recent remarks where he distanced himself from allegations suggesting that he abandoned the boxing legend.

The former governor was forced to clarify the matter after a video featuring phone conversations with the boxer’s family went viral depicting how Conjestina left Sonko’s camp after a misunderstanding occurred between the pair.

“I have seen a post by my good friend Carol Radul on Conjee, which attracted both positive and negative reactions from the public. Others were criticising and accusing me of playing PR and vipindiree. I hereby wish to respond with facts as hereunder: Kenyans, I did my best to help Conjee, but her family watered down my efforts,” Sonko clarified.

“I needed to go to court and a warrant of arrest could have been issued against me if I failed. Conjestina was upset that I did not get her a plane ticket and put her on the bus. My team also travelled with SGR.”

According to Sonko, he also opposed the family’s decision to recall Conjestina from his care maintaining that her family was not well equipped to take care of her and allow Conjestina to continue with her rehabilitation.

“Fortunately, my heart is bigger than myself. At times, I fail to control it for the love I have for the people, especially the less fortunate,” Sonko noted.
